Our Builder

Cole has taken to building specialty towers out of our Lego Duplos.  He will spend forever just working his way through all sorts of configurations.  However, the best part are the names that he comes up with.  They are just such practical names but oh so cute in his little two year old voice.  Once he is finished one, he hands it to me, names it and then is off to make another.  Here are some of his recent creations.  Some of the towers include the "zoo" tower, the "Lightning McQueen" tower, the "man on tree with polar bear" tower, the "giraffe house" tower and the "flower" tower.  There is never a dull moment with him!

Sun River and Portland for Mid Winter Break

Drew had a conference in Sun River OR this past winter and we made the call to tag along for a little vacation.  Things were slightly dampened by the fact that it appears Cole has developed car sickness since the summer. Ugh.  The drive was so long! However, it was worth it in the end and we had a wonderful time relaxing in an amazing little chalet, enjoying the snow, sitting in the hot tub, sledding and skating!  Couldn't have asked for more fun!  A stop at our favorite in Mt. Hood - El burro loco! A glass of wine after our 6 hour road trip turned into 10 hours due to car sickness!  Right before our Owl Walk.  We were told we could walk into the wood and hear the owls. What a bust!  3 cold and tired kids in the dark woods and no owls!  It's now a running joke in our home as the  tour guide kept 'hooting' trying to draw the owl's attention.  If we want someone's attention in the house we often hoot at each other now...

Packing for 2010

We have started collecting our Olympic gear in preparation for our trip up to Vancouver this weekend! The last Olympics we attended were the Calgary '88 games (Drew even preformed in the opening ceremonies) and we can't wait to be back on Canadian soil celebrating the big event again. Even though Sam is too young to really appreciate the Olympics, we are excited to show him the sights and get lots of pictures so he can look back and hear some good stories. At this point, our gear is ready and the funny thing is Sam has the most Olympic stuff out of any of us! Our family has worked hard to make sure that Sam gets a little piece of Canada even though he is not living there. We know that if Sam grows up in the USA, no one will need to teach him to enjoy his country, but since Canada is so much a part of us, we want to make sure he learns about that bit of him too! So in a few days we will head North and cheer for the home team. However, maybe we do need to get a little piec...
