Blue Camera

Cole adopted an old little point and shoot camera over the week we were in Florida.  He simply would not let go of his blue camera and took it upon himself to capture hundreds of blurry, random photos of the week.  When ever he saw it, he wanted it.  I actually tried to take a quick video of him one day in the water as I didn't mind having it in the pool if it dropped and he swam towards me by himself crying for his blue camera the entire time.  Crazy kid.

One of his favorite subjects to take photos of was Drew's cousin Janine.  Janine is a little younger than Drew but you would never know it.  I wasn't sure how the boys would take to Janine as Sam hadn't seen her since he was one and Cole had never met her so we did some prep work before hand.  We spent a lot of time before the trip looking at pictures of her, discussing how she couldn't talk to them, and tips on how to make her laugh.  Well, the boys took to 'Nini' instantly and loved taking her photo and making her laugh by playing peek a boo or throwing a ball to her in the pool.  For the rest of the week after Janine left with her caregiver for camp, they both said they missed Janine and wished she could be around to play more.  As I was looking through Cole's blue camera out of the multiple blurry shots he took of her, there was one clear one...his new little buddy.

Sun River and Portland for Mid Winter Break

Drew had a conference in Sun River OR this past winter and we made the call to tag along for a little vacation.  Things were slightly dampened by the fact that it appears Cole has developed car sickness since the summer. Ugh.  The drive was so long! However, it was worth it in the end and we had a wonderful time relaxing in an amazing little chalet, enjoying the snow, sitting in the hot tub, sledding and skating!  Couldn't have asked for more fun!  A stop at our favorite in Mt. Hood - El burro loco! A glass of wine after our 6 hour road trip turned into 10 hours due to car sickness!  Right before our Owl Walk.  We were told we could walk into the wood and hear the owls. What a bust!  3 cold and tired kids in the dark woods and no owls!  It's now a running joke in our home as the  tour guide kept 'hooting' trying to draw the owl's attention.  If we want someone's attention in the house we often hoot at each other now...

Thanksgiving

We have so much to be thankful for! We daily feel so grateful for all of the blessings in our life but it is nice to have a day to get together with family and reflect and relax. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend in Long Island, NY with Drew's 'east coast' family. Sam enjoyed his second road trip out to Long Island and did fabulous! He got to see a lot of family again and finally get to meet his Great Granny! Sam got some early Christmas gifts this year and had a lot more enthusiasm unwrapping them than we expected!

Reflections

North shore School District hosted an art walk this year to highlight student work.  The theme was Imagine and students were tasked with creating some sort of 'art' that reflected the theme.  Sam came home one day and told us that he had submitted something.  What came as even more as a surprise was when we were contacted to say his piece was a qualifier to represent the school in the district art walk.  Sam was pretty thrilled with it and with his ribbon and didn't mind at all that his piece didn't move on to the next round of judging.  His best bud Owen had his work submitted as well and they enjoyed hanging out at the art show.
