Friday was Sam's last day of preschool. Crazy. It is hard to believe that 9 months have passed since he tentatively took his first steps into Ms. Diane's classroom. I was so excited and nervous for him as I posted here back in September but as I had hoped, this experience has been wonderful for Sam. I have said that this is the one time in my life that I can choose his teacher and Diane was simply the perfect choice for Sam.
She perfectly complemented what we were doing at home. While we read heaps of books with Sam and spelled out words we saw throughout the day, she taught him zoo phonics which is what Northshore School District uses in Kindergarten and helped him read his first book. While we worked on fostering his mathematical mind through every day discussions and math, she taught him how to make math equations and use manipulative's to solve math problems. While we teach him daily to be show love to others, she created a classroom environment where children were respected and told that when playing with others "the more the merrier." This year Sam got the perfect balance of structure, routine, creativity and spontaneity. We are just so thankful for a wonderful introduction of 'school' for Sam and hope and pray Diane is still teaching when Cole and Eliza are ready for preschool.
We celebrated his final graduation day with pizza and ice cream (his choice) and he was beyond thrilled.
We are just so proud of our first boy.

My crazy crew getting ready to take Sam to his last day
He looks so grown up - kindergarten bound!
Sam and his best buddy. These two are going to miss seeing each other three days a week.
