9 Months!

How can it be that our little girl is 9 months old already!  We just keep marching towards the 1 year mark - it's going so fast!   Eliza is just little miss personality.  She is really starting to become her own little person. Some of her current favorites are:

-She loves to wave.  It's so cute because she gets her whole arm going.

-She is crawling...and into everything.  I am ashamed to say I have had to fish Lego and marbles out of her mouth - yikes! I need some better baby proofing!

-She is trying to pull up on everything but her favorite is to crawl over to mom, dad, her brothers or her dog and try to pull up on one of us

-She loves to stand.  She thinks it is hilarious when I am holding her standing up and let go for a second or two.  She stands there wobbling and then plops down on her bottom with a huge smile on her face.

-She loves to play peek a boo - it's fun to watch

-She knows what she wants...and boy can she throw a temper tantrum when she doesn't get it

- She loves to imitate her brothers.  When they laugh, she laughs.  When they shriek, she shrieks.  They all think it is pretty funny.

-She gives lovely (albeit wet) kisses

-She adores touch and feel books - I love to see her become interested in reading.

-She's got a tooth (and another one appears to be on it's way).  Let me tell you.  The boys had nothing on her.  She makes their teething seem like a piece of cake.  It's going to be a long road until we get all her pearly whites.

- Oh and I can't forget one of my favorites....that sweet first word - mama!

We are daily thankful for this sweet blessing and how well she is growing and learning!

How big is Eliza?  So big!

Sun River and Portland for Mid Winter Break

Drew had a conference in Sun River OR this past winter and we made the call to tag along for a little vacation.  Things were slightly dampened by the fact that it appears Cole has developed car sickness since the summer. Ugh.  The drive was so long! However, it was worth it in the end and we had a wonderful time relaxing in an amazing little chalet, enjoying the snow, sitting in the hot tub, sledding and skating!  Couldn't have asked for more fun!  A stop at our favorite in Mt. Hood - El burro loco! A glass of wine after our 6 hour road trip turned into 10 hours due to car sickness!  Right before our Owl Walk.  We were told we could walk into the wood and hear the owls. What a bust!  3 cold and tired kids in the dark woods and no owls!  It's now a running joke in our home as the  tour guide kept 'hooting' trying to draw the owl's attention.  If we want someone's attention in the house we often hoot at each other now...

Thanksgiving

We have so much to be thankful for! We daily feel so grateful for all of the blessings in our life but it is nice to have a day to get together with family and reflect and relax. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend in Long Island, NY with Drew's 'east coast' family. Sam enjoyed his second road trip out to Long Island and did fabulous! He got to see a lot of family again and finally get to meet his Great Granny! Sam got some early Christmas gifts this year and had a lot more enthusiasm unwrapping them than we expected!

Reflections

North shore School District hosted an art walk this year to highlight student work.  The theme was Imagine and students were tasked with creating some sort of 'art' that reflected the theme.  Sam came home one day and told us that he had submitted something.  What came as even more as a surprise was when we were contacted to say his piece was a qualifier to represent the school in the district art walk.  Sam was pretty thrilled with it and with his ribbon and didn't mind at all that his piece didn't move on to the next round of judging.  His best bud Owen had his work submitted as well and they enjoyed hanging out at the art show.
