Early Father's Day

It's almost Father's Day and as we knew it would be a busy weekend with soccer, a birthday party and Cole's birthday on the same day we decided to do a little bit of a celebration early.  Drew always loves spending father's day on Whidbey so we headed over to the island a couple weekends ago.  This was the first time we were over there where all our kids were functional....no babies!  It was great as the kids just had a great time exploring around the beach.  We never stay long on the island...some time on the beach, a stop at the park, a quick lunch and then we are back on the ferry headed home.  However despite how quick the trip is it always seems like we have had a little mini vacation.

Eliza loved the ferry this time and kept looking for seagulls

Leave it to Cole to find the crab.  He found a few of these guys but held on to this one until we had to leave.  He called him fluffy.

The clouds finally started to burn off and out came the sun

If her brother's had sticks, she needed one too.  She's a little copycat.

Sun River and Portland for Mid Winter Break

Drew had a conference in Sun River OR this past winter and we made the call to tag along for a little vacation.  Things were slightly dampened by the fact that it appears Cole has developed car sickness since the summer. Ugh.  The drive was so long! However, it was worth it in the end and we had a wonderful time relaxing in an amazing little chalet, enjoying the snow, sitting in the hot tub, sledding and skating!  Couldn't have asked for more fun!  A stop at our favorite in Mt. Hood - El burro loco! A glass of wine after our 6 hour road trip turned into 10 hours due to car sickness!  Right before our Owl Walk.  We were told we could walk into the wood and hear the owls. What a bust!  3 cold and tired kids in the dark woods and no owls!  It's now a running joke in our home as the  tour guide kept 'hooting' trying to draw the owl's attention.  If we want someone's attention in the house we often hoot at each other now...
