The training wheels came off today!
We have been wondering if we should take Sam's training wheels off for a couple weeks now. When he got his new bike for his birthday this summer we kept them on so he could get used to pedaling after only using a balance bike but in the past couple weeks they seemed to be holding him back.
Today we decided to give it a try and Sam was amazing! He got the hang of it really quickly and was flying around the school yard and school parking lot in no time. He was so excited and kept exclaiming that it was so much fun having a bike with no training wheels. It really is clear that the balance bike he used before gave him such a good foundation to get up and running on his big bike.
And to ensure he was not left out Cole had to show off on the balance bike now that it has been passed onto him. He has no fear on it - it terrifies me and I tell Drew he has to follow Cole on the bike because I am too scared to watch! He really has the hang of it and was gliding really far today with his feet up and a big grin on his face.
Ice cream was definitely in order for this evening - a perfect way to celebrate their big accomplishments.

We started Sam on the grass just incase he needed a soft landing
The girl cheering squad
It didn't take long for Sam to want to get onto the pavement. He did awesome and kept Drew running!
Little miss wasn't too happy when I handed her off. She is a clingy mama's girl these days!
