Busy!

To say we have been busy the last couple weeks is a complete understatement.  We have had many visitors these last few weeks - Grandma, Grandpa and Oma, Auntie Ruth, our friend Julia and her family and have the Katz family from CA arriving this afternoon!  I am far behind on my blogging so I thought I would add a few photos to document a few of our adventures over the past couple weeks so they don't get lost in the shuffle!

Over the past couple weeks we made great strides in swimming lessons (both boys are now jumping off the starting blocks), play outside for hours and had many water fights, enjoyed playing at the local parks and have...

experimented with baking soda and vinegar - so fun!

Gone berry picking (and now have a freezer full of raspberries and blueberries)

Enjoyed ice cream at Bothell Country Village

Visited the Forest Park up in Everett and enjoyed playing at the park and visiting their petting farm

Watched a little girl pull up on everything and cruise around the house

Had plenty of Starbucks treats (this little one has taken to stealing my cup away and she isn't always that graceful.  Moments after this pictures was taken she dumped what was left of the drink.  Oh vey what a mess!)

Enjoyed these crazy donuts from Voodoo Donuts in Portland - Dad brought these home for us after his week away!

Enjoyed the Bellevue Children's Museum on a rainy day with friends from PA who moved away a year ago and are back for a visit.

Celebrated Grandpa's birthday with Oma, Grandma and Drew's aunt Ruth from New York!

Science experiments are so fun at this age. Its Gavin's age where they get complicated. I come up from doing laundry to find a huge mess and an empty vinegar bottle and baking soda all over the floor! Awesome times!

Sun River and Portland for Mid Winter Break

Drew had a conference in Sun River OR this past winter and we made the call to tag along for a little vacation.  Things were slightly dampened by the fact that it appears Cole has developed car sickness since the summer. Ugh.  The drive was so long! However, it was worth it in the end and we had a wonderful time relaxing in an amazing little chalet, enjoying the snow, sitting in the hot tub, sledding and skating!  Couldn't have asked for more fun!  A stop at our favorite in Mt. Hood - El burro loco! A glass of wine after our 6 hour road trip turned into 10 hours due to car sickness!  Right before our Owl Walk.  We were told we could walk into the wood and hear the owls. What a bust!  3 cold and tired kids in the dark woods and no owls!  It's now a running joke in our home as the  tour guide kept 'hooting' trying to draw the owl's attention.  If we want someone's attention in the house we often hoot at each other now...

Thanksgiving

We have so much to be thankful for! We daily feel so grateful for all of the blessings in our life but it is nice to have a day to get together with family and reflect and relax. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend in Long Island, NY with Drew's 'east coast' family. Sam enjoyed his second road trip out to Long Island and did fabulous! He got to see a lot of family again and finally get to meet his Great Granny! Sam got some early Christmas gifts this year and had a lot more enthusiasm unwrapping them than we expected!

Reflections

North shore School District hosted an art walk this year to highlight student work.  The theme was Imagine and students were tasked with creating some sort of 'art' that reflected the theme.  Sam came home one day and told us that he had submitted something.  What came as even more as a surprise was when we were contacted to say his piece was a qualifier to represent the school in the district art walk.  Sam was pretty thrilled with it and with his ribbon and didn't mind at all that his piece didn't move on to the next round of judging.  His best bud Owen had his work submitted as well and they enjoyed hanging out at the art show.
