We had planned to go up to Vancouver despite the fact that we did not have event tickets. Imagine our excitement when a week before our trip Drew's dad called and told us he had landed tickets to the Figure Skating Gala on Saturday night. Although we had never expected to go an event we were thrilled to add this to our 'list.' However, it became very clear on Saturday that it was just not meant to be for us. About half an hour before leaving for our event, Sam work up from his nap and it was clear something was not right. Rather than leaving for the event, we left for the ER instead. It was wild because he had been fine in the morning yet the moment he woke up from his nap it was clear he was in terrible pain. Sam ended up having a very nasty yet somewhat common infection and we quickly got him started on antibiotics and worked to keep him as comfortable as possible. It was crazy how the timing of all of this made it so clear that we could not make it to the event. We were sad that we couldn't use the tickets but of course, the little guy was our priority. I guess that is a good example of parenthood...things often don't go as planned and your kiddo needs to come first! Below our the two images of what happened and what could have been.
