Sam had a follow up appointment with his pediatrician after spending some time in the ER a couple of weekends ago. Now anyone who remembers my post regarding Sam's 18 month check up can imagine the apprehension I was feeling about taking Sam back to the office. This time I was all prepared for the worst. As we drove to the office I kept reminding Sam that we were going to the Doctors so they could check his owie and make sure it was all better. He was pretty quiet the whole way over there but near the end of our trip he started saying 'doctor' followed by ''check owie.' Well, I am pleased to say the experience could not have been any better. It again reminded me that a couple of months can make a big difference in a little person's life. He was good as gold. He even told the doctor 'I shy' and proceeded to show her where his 'hurt' had been. After giving him a good examination the doctor said he was all better and he happily exclaimed 'better' the rest of the visit. I also had them check his ears as he has been pulling on them a lot and even though I figured it was due to the fact that two of his two year molars have cut through, I wanted to be sure we weren't dealing with anything else. The doctor checked Miga's ears (his stuffed Olympic Mascot) first and after that Sam was more than willing to show her his ears and have them checked too! This evening Sam spent a lot of time talking to Drew on his way home telling him all about his doctor's visit and how he was a 'good boy'. What a sweet little guy.
Drew had a conference in Sun River OR this past winter and we made the call to tag along for a little vacation. Things were slightly dampened by the fact that it appears Cole has developed car sickness since the summer. Ugh. The drive was so long! However, it was worth it in the end and we had a wonderful time relaxing in an amazing little chalet, enjoying the snow, sitting in the hot tub, sledding and skating! Couldn't have asked for more fun! A stop at our favorite in Mt. Hood - El burro loco! A glass of wine after our 6 hour road trip turned into 10 hours due to car sickness! Right before our Owl Walk. We were told we could walk into the wood and hear the owls. What a bust! 3 cold and tired kids in the dark woods and no owls! It's now a running joke in our home as the tour guide kept 'hooting' trying to draw the owl's attention. If we want someone's attention in the house we often hoot at each other now...
