Easter Egg Hunt

This year went went to our friends annual Easter egg hunt again!  The Greff's are such a sweet family and our lives intertwine with them nicely - church, MOPS, small group, and school.  Our kids really all like each other which is just so fun!  Of course there is also the fact that Sam and Shaylen both have pretty major crushes on each other!

Every year they host a big Easter egg hunt with friends and family and at some point in the morning the Easter Bunny makes an appearance. Last year Eliza was terrified and this year was no exception.  However, I think she was more scared this year.  Let's just say the dad who donned the costume was much more exuberant that the one who did it last year and Eliza was running to the van saying she wanted to go home.  Funny enough the easter bunnies daughter was doing the same thing - her and Eliza made quite the pair!

I snapped a few pics of the hunt.  Sam was bummed he had to miss it as he had a baseball game but we snagged a couple eggs for him too and he was able to join the fun for a little bit after his game!

Sun River and Portland for Mid Winter Break

Drew had a conference in Sun River OR this past winter and we made the call to tag along for a little vacation.  Things were slightly dampened by the fact that it appears Cole has developed car sickness since the summer. Ugh.  The drive was so long! However, it was worth it in the end and we had a wonderful time relaxing in an amazing little chalet, enjoying the snow, sitting in the hot tub, sledding and skating!  Couldn't have asked for more fun!  A stop at our favorite in Mt. Hood - El burro loco! A glass of wine after our 6 hour road trip turned into 10 hours due to car sickness!  Right before our Owl Walk.  We were told we could walk into the wood and hear the owls. What a bust!  3 cold and tired kids in the dark woods and no owls!  It's now a running joke in our home as the  tour guide kept 'hooting' trying to draw the owl's attention.  If we want someone's attention in the house we often hoot at each other now...

Thanksgiving

We have so much to be thankful for! We daily feel so grateful for all of the blessings in our life but it is nice to have a day to get together with family and reflect and relax. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend in Long Island, NY with Drew's 'east coast' family. Sam enjoyed his second road trip out to Long Island and did fabulous! He got to see a lot of family again and finally get to meet his Great Granny! Sam got some early Christmas gifts this year and had a lot more enthusiasm unwrapping them than we expected!

Reflections

North shore School District hosted an art walk this year to highlight student work.  The theme was Imagine and students were tasked with creating some sort of 'art' that reflected the theme.  Sam came home one day and told us that he had submitted something.  What came as even more as a surprise was when we were contacted to say his piece was a qualifier to represent the school in the district art walk.  Sam was pretty thrilled with it and with his ribbon and didn't mind at all that his piece didn't move on to the next round of judging.  His best bud Owen had his work submitted as well and they enjoyed hanging out at the art show.
