Odds and Ends

I was going through my phone this afternoon and it was full of pictures I have been meaning to post but just haven't gotten around to yet so here they are...some of our highlights from the past few weeks! I feel kind of bad as there are no pics to post of Sam...I often use my phone to take pics when he is at preschool.  I will have to include some of him the next time around!

We've got a nest!  A sweet pair of robins are currently using our deck as a nesting place.  We watched them build their nest and the kids were fascinated with how hard they worked.

The result of all their hard work...two sweet robin blue eggs.  We can't wait until they hatch!

I just love how grown up they look when they are sitting and playing

Cole loves to be silly

The girls relaxing on a beach in Whidbey while the boys looked for shells and mucked around in the sand.

Uh oh.  Up on her knees and desperate to move.  I find her like this often at night in her crib.  I can't wait until she masters this one but am not sure I am ready for the trouble she is going to get into

Ok. I have to say it.  I love dressing a girl!

Her serious face...I get this one a lot

But we can usually get a goofy grin out of her

My middle on a daily bug hunt.  He loves bugs and can catch anything.  I swear yesterday he caught a fly out of mid air.

It has felt like summer here - what a treat.  We have had many days with the boys playing outside with 'volcano joe'

It is pretty common to see our little girl with her tongue out...silly monkey

Sun River and Portland for Mid Winter Break

Drew had a conference in Sun River OR this past winter and we made the call to tag along for a little vacation.  Things were slightly dampened by the fact that it appears Cole has developed car sickness since the summer. Ugh.  The drive was so long! However, it was worth it in the end and we had a wonderful time relaxing in an amazing little chalet, enjoying the snow, sitting in the hot tub, sledding and skating!  Couldn't have asked for more fun!  A stop at our favorite in Mt. Hood - El burro loco! A glass of wine after our 6 hour road trip turned into 10 hours due to car sickness!  Right before our Owl Walk.  We were told we could walk into the wood and hear the owls. What a bust!  3 cold and tired kids in the dark woods and no owls!  It's now a running joke in our home as the  tour guide kept 'hooting' trying to draw the owl's attention.  If we want someone's attention in the house we often hoot at each other now...

Thanksgiving

We have so much to be thankful for! We daily feel so grateful for all of the blessings in our life but it is nice to have a day to get together with family and reflect and relax. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend in Long Island, NY with Drew's 'east coast' family. Sam enjoyed his second road trip out to Long Island and did fabulous! He got to see a lot of family again and finally get to meet his Great Granny! Sam got some early Christmas gifts this year and had a lot more enthusiasm unwrapping them than we expected!

Reflections

North shore School District hosted an art walk this year to highlight student work.  The theme was Imagine and students were tasked with creating some sort of 'art' that reflected the theme.  Sam came home one day and told us that he had submitted something.  What came as even more as a surprise was when we were contacted to say his piece was a qualifier to represent the school in the district art walk.  Sam was pretty thrilled with it and with his ribbon and didn't mind at all that his piece didn't move on to the next round of judging.  His best bud Owen had his work submitted as well and they enjoyed hanging out at the art show.
