Playing Tourist

This weekend we had a lot of fun with Nathan hitting some of the sights around the city.  On Friday we hit the Museum of Flight.  It was a miserable day so it was perfect to have some indoor fun.  Last time we were there Cole was just little so it was fun watching him run around and enjoy the planes.  Lunch at Maggie Bluffs was the perfect end to our morning before parting ways with Nathan.  The kids were tuckered and it was a pretty quiet ride home!

The next morning we saw glimmers of sun when we woke up and quickly called Nathan to see if he wanted to join us on a ride around the Seattle Great Wheel while the weather was nice.  The weather held for our ride and we had a beautiful view of the city, Elliot Bay and the Olympic Mountains.  The kids had a wonderful time and loved when the wheel would stop at the top.  After the ride we walked through Miners Landing and the boys wanted to stop to take pictures with every. single. statue.  We humored them and they had a lot of good laughs.  Before heading home, we picked up lunch and took it back to Nathan's condo (including a coconut pie from the Dahlia Lounge - delicious!)

We love having Nathan around - it has been so fun to hang out with him when we get the chance.  The boys are going to miss him when he has to go back to Miami!

Sun River and Portland for Mid Winter Break

Drew had a conference in Sun River OR this past winter and we made the call to tag along for a little vacation.  Things were slightly dampened by the fact that it appears Cole has developed car sickness since the summer. Ugh.  The drive was so long! However, it was worth it in the end and we had a wonderful time relaxing in an amazing little chalet, enjoying the snow, sitting in the hot tub, sledding and skating!  Couldn't have asked for more fun!  A stop at our favorite in Mt. Hood - El burro loco! A glass of wine after our 6 hour road trip turned into 10 hours due to car sickness!  Right before our Owl Walk.  We were told we could walk into the wood and hear the owls. What a bust!  3 cold and tired kids in the dark woods and no owls!  It's now a running joke in our home as the  tour guide kept 'hooting' trying to draw the owl's attention.  If we want someone's attention in the house we often hoot at each other now...

Thanksgiving

We have so much to be thankful for! We daily feel so grateful for all of the blessings in our life but it is nice to have a day to get together with family and reflect and relax. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend in Long Island, NY with Drew's 'east coast' family. Sam enjoyed his second road trip out to Long Island and did fabulous! He got to see a lot of family again and finally get to meet his Great Granny! Sam got some early Christmas gifts this year and had a lot more enthusiasm unwrapping them than we expected!

Reflections

North shore School District hosted an art walk this year to highlight student work.  The theme was Imagine and students were tasked with creating some sort of 'art' that reflected the theme.  Sam came home one day and told us that he had submitted something.  What came as even more as a surprise was when we were contacted to say his piece was a qualifier to represent the school in the district art walk.  Sam was pretty thrilled with it and with his ribbon and didn't mind at all that his piece didn't move on to the next round of judging.  His best bud Owen had his work submitted as well and they enjoyed hanging out at the art show.
