Happy Valentine's Day!

This has been a pretty low key Valentine's Day for us this year.  Drew has been fighting a nasty cold and I have a flu that has knocked me out.  Add to that a baby girl that is sick too and has decided that sleep is for the weak and you've got yourself a very tired and slow moving household. We kept the day pretty low key but did enjoy a special breakfast and lots of family snuggles.  The boys were quite excited to find some special surprises when they came downstairs - homemade cards from Oma, a bell to ring for hugs and kisses from Grandma, E cards from Grammy and a special treat from Mom and Dad.  Drew got to spend this Valentines Day with us as he still has another week off before starting his new job and we enjoyed having him around for the festivities.  This evening Uncle Nathan joined us for supper and brought just what this sick family needed...ice cream!  Considering I haven't had much to eat it the last couple of days it might not have been the best thing to start with but it sure was tasty.

Whipped cream is about as good as it gets for our boys.

Getting kisses from her big brother.  She thought it was so funny.

Sun River and Portland for Mid Winter Break

Drew had a conference in Sun River OR this past winter and we made the call to tag along for a little vacation.  Things were slightly dampened by the fact that it appears Cole has developed car sickness since the summer. Ugh.  The drive was so long! However, it was worth it in the end and we had a wonderful time relaxing in an amazing little chalet, enjoying the snow, sitting in the hot tub, sledding and skating!  Couldn't have asked for more fun!  A stop at our favorite in Mt. Hood - El burro loco! A glass of wine after our 6 hour road trip turned into 10 hours due to car sickness!  Right before our Owl Walk.  We were told we could walk into the wood and hear the owls. What a bust!  3 cold and tired kids in the dark woods and no owls!  It's now a running joke in our home as the  tour guide kept 'hooting' trying to draw the owl's attention.  If we want someone's attention in the house we often hoot at each other now...
