Our boys love this song. In fact, it is a frequently requested bedtime song and usually makes it into our three song rotation every night. They have also become captivated with playing baseball and daily head outside to hit the ball around. I know I am a biased mom but truly - they are pretty good! Sam loves it when we pitch to him and we often end up running down the street to get the balls that he hits. Cole uses the tee but has a pretty strong swing too!
Since baseball has become such a source of enjoyment in our home, we thought an afternoon game would be a great way to spend labor day.
First, we ended up meeting family from Vancouver for lunch. They were off to Alaska on a Disney Cruise and need to catch a lift from the train station to the docks. Drew dropped the boys and I off early at Maggie Bluffs and then went to pick up the others so the car seats would be free for their kids. While we waited for them to come back, the boys and I enjoyed running around outside and checking out the boats. After a quick lunch and catch up, we left them with their cruise ship and headed to the ballpark.
We parked in Drew's building and had the ambitious thought we would walk to the park. However, Drew's memory of the walk from his work to the ballpark was much faster than it was today. I guess when you are in the company of a 2 year old, a 4 year old, and a 36 week pregnant wife you tend to be a little slower.
The boys loved the game, the treats, and the crowds. They both got certificates made to celebrate their first Mariners game and collected countless baseball cards from the friendly staff. However, the highlight of the game was the 7th inning stretch and chorus of "take me out to the ballgame" I am pretty sure we will be singing that song tonight as we tuck them in.
