Half a Year

Wow...our little guys is six months already. Time flies. Simply put, Cole is a perfect addition to our family. We have learned a lot these past six months with Cole, he is definitely his own little person. Here are some of our discoveries.

~ Cole LOVES to laugh. He is such a giggly little thing

~No matter what his mood, if you put him in the bathtub you have one happy baby

~He loves the phone and screams with joy the minute he sees it (and screams with fury when you take it away)

~He gives amazing (albeit) very wet kisses

~He hasn't yet made up his mind about his furry sibling and waivers between love and absolute terror

~He is so observant, doesn't miss a thing.

~He is all smiles when Daddy comes home

~He gets a kick out of peek a boo

~He wants to be in the action at all times and is not happy if he is left for even a moment. Crawling will be a very liberating thing for this baby and mommy.

~ He can cry at a little bump but doesn't flinch when Sam flops all over him.

~He wants anything we eat and goes to great lengths to propel himself towards our food.

~No one can make Cole laugh the way Sam can. They truly have a brotherly bond.

We just couldn't imagine life without this little one! Happy half year birthday Coleson!

Sun River and Portland for Mid Winter Break

Drew had a conference in Sun River OR this past winter and we made the call to tag along for a little vacation.  Things were slightly dampened by the fact that it appears Cole has developed car sickness since the summer. Ugh.  The drive was so long! However, it was worth it in the end and we had a wonderful time relaxing in an amazing little chalet, enjoying the snow, sitting in the hot tub, sledding and skating!  Couldn't have asked for more fun!  A stop at our favorite in Mt. Hood - El burro loco! A glass of wine after our 6 hour road trip turned into 10 hours due to car sickness!  Right before our Owl Walk.  We were told we could walk into the wood and hear the owls. What a bust!  3 cold and tired kids in the dark woods and no owls!  It's now a running joke in our home as the  tour guide kept 'hooting' trying to draw the owl's attention.  If we want someone's attention in the house we often hoot at each other now...

Thanksgiving

We have so much to be thankful for! We daily feel so grateful for all of the blessings in our life but it is nice to have a day to get together with family and reflect and relax. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend in Long Island, NY with Drew's 'east coast' family. Sam enjoyed his second road trip out to Long Island and did fabulous! He got to see a lot of family again and finally get to meet his Great Granny! Sam got some early Christmas gifts this year and had a lot more enthusiasm unwrapping them than we expected!

Reflections

North shore School District hosted an art walk this year to highlight student work.  The theme was Imagine and students were tasked with creating some sort of 'art' that reflected the theme.  Sam came home one day and told us that he had submitted something.  What came as even more as a surprise was when we were contacted to say his piece was a qualifier to represent the school in the district art walk.  Sam was pretty thrilled with it and with his ribbon and didn't mind at all that his piece didn't move on to the next round of judging.  His best bud Owen had his work submitted as well and they enjoyed hanging out at the art show.
