If The Ultrasound Is Right

It means that baby boy Hiller has...

-big plump hands
-big chubby feet
-big squeezable cheeks
-big tall legs
-a big round tummy
-a big patch of hair on his head
-and a little tiny head!

Which in other words means he is taking the same shape as Sam. Now don't get us wrong, we were captivated with Sam from the beginning but due to his 'big' shape he wasn't the easiest guy to deliver. He tipped the scales at 8'12 and was in the upper percentiles for everything (except his little head!). Due to Sam's size, my midwife wanted me to have another ultrasound just to 'check' the shape of our second little guy. Well, the tech calculated that this baby boy is already 7'4 lbs and there are still 4 weeks to go!!!! If I follow the averages and reach my due date I could have a baby that is well over 9lbs!! Geesh. I guess we just make big babies!

We will just cross our fingers that the tech is a little off on her calculations. Let's hope that their +/- 1lb margin of error works in our behalf and that baby #2 won't feel the need to outdo his older brother on the scales!

Good news is that they say bigger babies sleep better. Not sure if you found that true with Sam but we sure did with Austin. Bad news is that I too was being monitored for size with Austin and my doctor assured me that the ultrasound was off by a pound and that 'there was no way he was 8.5 lbs at 38 weeks'. Well, turns out it was pretty darn accurate when I delivered just over 39 weeks and Austin was 9 lbs! Wishing you a quick labor and not a lot of pain. Can't wait to see the little guy :-)
