Drama....

We truly aren't 'dramatic' people. We enjoy when things are calm and predictable. However over the last year we have seemed to welcome 'drama' in our life. Selling our house in PA to move to Seattle, driving across the country with a dog and a 15 month old, finding out we were pregnant upon arriving in Seattle, Drew starting a new job with risk attached, finding a new place to live....we could truly go on and on about the unpredictability in our lives.

However, bit by bit things seem to be coming together. Last week we were relieved to hear the news that the FDA approved the drug Drew's company has been working on. Overnight, we were able to rest assured that Drew's company was still in existence and he still had a job. We had truly felt that we should not buy a house until we knew about Drew's work situation and a day after the approval, the perfect house came on the market. That day we put an offer on it and are thrilled that tonight we have a contract in place!

However, we still had to add a little bit of 'drama' to our new situation. Baby Hiller is set to arrive in almost 6 weeks. Just to make it a little more complicated we close on our new home in 7 weeks. Wow...moving with a newborn (or a week overdue). It will be an interesting June!
Good thing God is in control. What seems like 'drama' and complications to us is just a big part of his master plan in our lives.

Sun River and Portland for Mid Winter Break

Drew had a conference in Sun River OR this past winter and we made the call to tag along for a little vacation.  Things were slightly dampened by the fact that it appears Cole has developed car sickness since the summer. Ugh.  The drive was so long! However, it was worth it in the end and we had a wonderful time relaxing in an amazing little chalet, enjoying the snow, sitting in the hot tub, sledding and skating!  Couldn't have asked for more fun!  A stop at our favorite in Mt. Hood - El burro loco! A glass of wine after our 6 hour road trip turned into 10 hours due to car sickness!  Right before our Owl Walk.  We were told we could walk into the wood and hear the owls. What a bust!  3 cold and tired kids in the dark woods and no owls!  It's now a running joke in our home as the  tour guide kept 'hooting' trying to draw the owl's attention.  If we want someone's attention in the house we often hoot at each other now...

Thanksgiving

We have so much to be thankful for! We daily feel so grateful for all of the blessings in our life but it is nice to have a day to get together with family and reflect and relax. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend in Long Island, NY with Drew's 'east coast' family. Sam enjoyed his second road trip out to Long Island and did fabulous! He got to see a lot of family again and finally get to meet his Great Granny! Sam got some early Christmas gifts this year and had a lot more enthusiasm unwrapping them than we expected!

Reflections

North shore School District hosted an art walk this year to highlight student work.  The theme was Imagine and students were tasked with creating some sort of 'art' that reflected the theme.  Sam came home one day and told us that he had submitted something.  What came as even more as a surprise was when we were contacted to say his piece was a qualifier to represent the school in the district art walk.  Sam was pretty thrilled with it and with his ribbon and didn't mind at all that his piece didn't move on to the next round of judging.  His best bud Owen had his work submitted as well and they enjoyed hanging out at the art show.
