Christmas Preparations

Once we arrived home from San Diego the Christmas season was upon us!  As the kids get older we feel like there are more options of fun activities we can do!

We packed in a lot of fun and enjoyed the lead up to Christmas!

Snow flake Lane is always a hit and we had a great night there.  We ran into our babysitter and her family so Eliza enjoyed a little snuggle time with her buddy while watching the show!

We enjoyed having a new tree to decorate this year!  It was much better than our 'tiny' tree that our kids always talked about!

Our elf Huey also stopped by again for the season to hang out with us. The kids loved sending him notes. He would always respond the next morning!

This was the first time we went to Bethlehem in Bothell this year and it was fantastic.  It will definitely add to our tradition list.

This year Drew and I signed up to serve at our church's toy shop for struggling families.  However, our childcare changed last minute so Drew stayed home with the kids and my good friend Amy joined me instead.  What an amazing ministry our church does!

It's become a tradition for the kids to invite some friends over after school to make gingerbread houses. Both boy had fun prepping for their buddies and piling up the icing and candy on their little homes.

We also enjoyed a surprise night of light viewing.  We tucked the kids in for bed and then a few minutes woke them with the sound of a train horn for their ride on the minivan express.  They loved it!

Sun River and Portland for Mid Winter Break

Drew had a conference in Sun River OR this past winter and we made the call to tag along for a little vacation.  Things were slightly dampened by the fact that it appears Cole has developed car sickness since the summer. Ugh.  The drive was so long! However, it was worth it in the end and we had a wonderful time relaxing in an amazing little chalet, enjoying the snow, sitting in the hot tub, sledding and skating!  Couldn't have asked for more fun!  A stop at our favorite in Mt. Hood - El burro loco! A glass of wine after our 6 hour road trip turned into 10 hours due to car sickness!  Right before our Owl Walk.  We were told we could walk into the wood and hear the owls. What a bust!  3 cold and tired kids in the dark woods and no owls!  It's now a running joke in our home as the  tour guide kept 'hooting' trying to draw the owl's attention.  If we want someone's attention in the house we often hoot at each other now...

Thanksgiving

We have so much to be thankful for! We daily feel so grateful for all of the blessings in our life but it is nice to have a day to get together with family and reflect and relax. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend in Long Island, NY with Drew's 'east coast' family. Sam enjoyed his second road trip out to Long Island and did fabulous! He got to see a lot of family again and finally get to meet his Great Granny! Sam got some early Christmas gifts this year and had a lot more enthusiasm unwrapping them than we expected!

Reflections

North shore School District hosted an art walk this year to highlight student work.  The theme was Imagine and students were tasked with creating some sort of 'art' that reflected the theme.  Sam came home one day and told us that he had submitted something.  What came as even more as a surprise was when we were contacted to say his piece was a qualifier to represent the school in the district art walk.  Sam was pretty thrilled with it and with his ribbon and didn't mind at all that his piece didn't move on to the next round of judging.  His best bud Owen had his work submitted as well and they enjoyed hanging out at the art show.
