A couple of weeks ago we marked the summer drawing to a close by a day trip up to Birch Bay to see Grandpa and Oma.
The kids all had a wonderful time - from swimming like maniacs in the pool in the morning and afternoon to mucking around on the mud flats to supper in Bellingham. They were all bagged by the time we headed for home and wasted no time falling asleep in the car!

Eliza checking out the fun. Next year she will be right in the mix.
The day started out a little crummy but it turned into a beautiful afternoon for a family walk on the mud flats!
Cole did this non stop. No wonder he was exhausted by the end of the day!
We should have put them in their bathing suits! They were both drenched by the time we headed back
Ready for the pool - and being a little crazy
Cole has NO fear of the water. It's a little scary! Both boys refused to wear life jackets. Sam was amazing - he is basically an independent swimmer now. He didn't need his life jacket at all and was able to swim lengths of the pool unassisted. Cole however is a different story. His head thinks he can swim unassisted but his body does not agree! He is way too overconfident!
