At the end of March our 'baby' hit the 18-month mark. It is amazing how fast she continues to learn and grow. She is such a sweet addition to our family and continues to find her role in our family. We are beyond blessed to have her and love the additional dynamic she has added to our home. Our sweet Eliza Kate!
It's amazing how she can be so similar to the boys yet at the same time so different. In one second you can see her zooming monster trucks around the house and in the next she is pretending she is figure skating and twirling around the room (the Olympics inspired her to do a lot of figure skating)
She is incredibly independent and wants to be a big girl. She wants the big girl chair, the big girl swing, the big girl pillow in her bed. It is very important for her to be like her brothers. She imitates them constantly, ADORES all their friends (she knows the names of them all and calls them by name when she sees them) and just simply loves having her brothers attention. She still has a baby girl crush on a couple of Sam's friends and just loves them - and they love her too. She loves to be in the center of the group of boys.

She likes to hold their hands on the way home from school
However, she is especially fond of Cole right now. I think it is because they spend so much time alone together while Sam is at school. I have said it before but I am so glad Cole wasn't in a formal preschool this year so they could spend a lot of time together. Every morning the past couple of weeks she has been calling for Cole and finds him right away to give him a big hug. She calls him Coley which just about melts my heart every time. After his swimming lessons this week she must have missed him because she gave him a big hug after and just wouldn't let go.
She is talking so much. It is just kind of ridiculous! Yesterday after being on the swing at the park she looked up at me and said "all done big girl swing mommy" She's throwing sentences out! It is so nice that she can communicate so well. She loves Legos and Matchbox cars like her brothers but has also really started getting into princesses. Every night she asks me to sing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Jesus Loves Me and the theme song from Disney's Sophia the First show! Frozen is now her favorite show, she's getting excited about princess dress up clothes and after I read her one of her few princess books she looks up at me and say's "one more" It's just precious!
Eliza isn't without her quirks like all kids are. The one that drives me crazy (even though it is pretty minor) is the gal won't eat finger food fruit. Seriously - how can she not like it! She has tolerated some banana probably about 5 times in her life but nothing else. She totally refuses and demands that I take it off her plate. However, give it to her in a pouch and she downs it. As a result I have been giving her a pouched baby food for one snack and one every night before bed to make sure she is getting some kind of fruit in her diet! For the longest time she wouldn't eat veggies either but we are slowly seeing some progress. She is now pretty happy with broccoli, sweet potatoes, carrots, corn and she actually ate some peas a couple of days ago! She is our most picky and opinionated eater by far and I am curious what they will say at her wellness as last time they said her weight gain was a little slow. We will see in a couple of weeks! With her budding independence also comes some pretty feisty behavior. She has no issue throwing tantrums whenever and wherever and they can be pretty dramatic. However, the sweet thing is that after letting her vent for a few minutes I can simply ask her if she needs a hug and before you know it I have a girl running towards me for a snuggle saying in her sweet little voice "sorry mommy."
On her 18 month birthday we were given a beautiful Seattle spring day and hit the park in the afternoon. I tried to grab a few pictures on my phone of her to capture her at 18 months and here are a couple of our little gal! It's crazy to think in less than 6 months now we will have a 2 year old! Where has our baby gone?
