2 Month Check Up

Eliza had her two month wellness appointment last Friday and is doing great!  She is 12 lbs 7 oz which puts her in the 90th percentile and she is 23 inches long which puts her in the 75th.  She was a bit of a show off trying to get into a full push up when the doctor put her on her tummy.  Her doctor said with her determination we should expect an early roller so we will see if she is inspired to use that strength to move herself around earlier rather than later.  At Eliza's one month appointment the doctor told me that even though I separate out all my vaccines, there was a new vaccine that encompassed them all and that I would not be able to separate.  I pushed back a little bit trying to see if there was any way I could get separate doses and she said only if there was a shortage of the new vaccine.  When we came in on Friday the doctor laughed when she saw me and informed me that just that morning they had gotten information that there was a shortage and they needed to start using the separated vaccines.  Perfect timing!  As a result, Eliza didn't need to get a whole host of 'stuff' put into her all at once and I can take our time finishing her vaccines.

Overall, our girl is doing great and growing so fast!  We are just so lucky to have her!

Sun River and Portland for Mid Winter Break

Drew had a conference in Sun River OR this past winter and we made the call to tag along for a little vacation.  Things were slightly dampened by the fact that it appears Cole has developed car sickness since the summer. Ugh.  The drive was so long! However, it was worth it in the end and we had a wonderful time relaxing in an amazing little chalet, enjoying the snow, sitting in the hot tub, sledding and skating!  Couldn't have asked for more fun!  A stop at our favorite in Mt. Hood - El burro loco! A glass of wine after our 6 hour road trip turned into 10 hours due to car sickness!  Right before our Owl Walk.  We were told we could walk into the wood and hear the owls. What a bust!  3 cold and tired kids in the dark woods and no owls!  It's now a running joke in our home as the  tour guide kept 'hooting' trying to draw the owl's attention.  If we want someone's attention in the house we often hoot at each other now...

Thanksgiving

We have so much to be thankful for! We daily feel so grateful for all of the blessings in our life but it is nice to have a day to get together with family and reflect and relax. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend in Long Island, NY with Drew's 'east coast' family. Sam enjoyed his second road trip out to Long Island and did fabulous! He got to see a lot of family again and finally get to meet his Great Granny! Sam got some early Christmas gifts this year and had a lot more enthusiasm unwrapping them than we expected!

Reflections

North shore School District hosted an art walk this year to highlight student work.  The theme was Imagine and students were tasked with creating some sort of 'art' that reflected the theme.  Sam came home one day and told us that he had submitted something.  What came as even more as a surprise was when we were contacted to say his piece was a qualifier to represent the school in the district art walk.  Sam was pretty thrilled with it and with his ribbon and didn't mind at all that his piece didn't move on to the next round of judging.  His best bud Owen had his work submitted as well and they enjoyed hanging out at the art show.
