Pure Happiness

It was a beautiful day in Vancouver on Saturday and after nap we took a quick trip over to a new park to burn off some energy and enjoy the sun.  The cousins had a wonderful time together but none found such joy quite like Cole.  He was in love when he found the spinning chairs below and as you can see from the video he wanted "more" and returned to them multiple times.

However, what is not caught on video is me running Cole from the park trying (unsuccessfully) to make it to the van before he vomited all over me.  After a quick drive home (and another vomiting session on me again of course).  We got the little guy settled and he rested for the rest of the night.  We had plans to see Drew's family but even though we figured all that spinning did him in we were a little worried to take him out in case it was just a well timed flu bug that was going to make it's way through our family.  However, by the next morning he seemed just fine and by lunch was eating anything he could get his hands on.  I guess our little guys stomach has it's limits.  Poor Cole!

Sun River and Portland for Mid Winter Break

Drew had a conference in Sun River OR this past winter and we made the call to tag along for a little vacation.  Things were slightly dampened by the fact that it appears Cole has developed car sickness since the summer. Ugh.  The drive was so long! However, it was worth it in the end and we had a wonderful time relaxing in an amazing little chalet, enjoying the snow, sitting in the hot tub, sledding and skating!  Couldn't have asked for more fun!  A stop at our favorite in Mt. Hood - El burro loco! A glass of wine after our 6 hour road trip turned into 10 hours due to car sickness!  Right before our Owl Walk.  We were told we could walk into the wood and hear the owls. What a bust!  3 cold and tired kids in the dark woods and no owls!  It's now a running joke in our home as the  tour guide kept 'hooting' trying to draw the owl's attention.  If we want someone's attention in the house we often hoot at each other now...

Packing for 2010

We have started collecting our Olympic gear in preparation for our trip up to Vancouver this weekend! The last Olympics we attended were the Calgary '88 games (Drew even preformed in the opening ceremonies) and we can't wait to be back on Canadian soil celebrating the big event again. Even though Sam is too young to really appreciate the Olympics, we are excited to show him the sights and get lots of pictures so he can look back and hear some good stories. At this point, our gear is ready and the funny thing is Sam has the most Olympic stuff out of any of us! Our family has worked hard to make sure that Sam gets a little piece of Canada even though he is not living there. We know that if Sam grows up in the USA, no one will need to teach him to enjoy his country, but since Canada is so much a part of us, we want to make sure he learns about that bit of him too! So in a few days we will head North and cheer for the home team. However, maybe we do need to get a little piec...
