Conversations in the Car

Sam and I have many interesting conversations in the car....but none like we had today!

S: Hey Mommy
E: Yes, Sam
S: Where is Sam's baby?
E: Ummm...what baby?
S: Sam's baby
E: Sam I don't know what baby you mean. Do you mean Cole your brother?
S: Nope
E: Do you mean your baby doll at home?
S: Nope
E: Sam I don't know what baby you want
S: Mommy, I mean the baby in my tummy.
E: What???
S: Sam is talking about the baby in my tummy
E: You have a baby in your tummy?
S: Yup, a sister baby?
E: Really?
S: Yup, the sister baby wants to come out. Take Sam to the baby Doctor so the doctor can take the baby out
E: Honey, we can't go to the baby doctor right now
S: (grunts)
E: Sam, what are you doing?
S: Sam is trying to get baby sister out (grunting and scratching his tummy)
E: Hmmm, remember doctors are the only one's who can get babies out. How about you let the sister baby stay in your tummy for a while.
S: Ok mommy...look a big big cement truck!

End of conversation.

I tell you, this is one fun age. You just never know what is going to come out of this boys mouth!

Oh I laughed over this one. What a clever and sweet little fellow. He remembers how it worked. And I think he may be onto something when he speaks of a sister baby. Oops, bad grandma, hush.

Oh my goodness, if Joan won't say it I will. Obviously he wants a baby sister! Who are WE to deny this little boy anything he wants. Don't worry Erin, I'll give you Mari!

Sun River and Portland for Mid Winter Break

Drew had a conference in Sun River OR this past winter and we made the call to tag along for a little vacation.  Things were slightly dampened by the fact that it appears Cole has developed car sickness since the summer. Ugh.  The drive was so long! However, it was worth it in the end and we had a wonderful time relaxing in an amazing little chalet, enjoying the snow, sitting in the hot tub, sledding and skating!  Couldn't have asked for more fun!  A stop at our favorite in Mt. Hood - El burro loco! A glass of wine after our 6 hour road trip turned into 10 hours due to car sickness!  Right before our Owl Walk.  We were told we could walk into the wood and hear the owls. What a bust!  3 cold and tired kids in the dark woods and no owls!  It's now a running joke in our home as the  tour guide kept 'hooting' trying to draw the owl's attention.  If we want someone's attention in the house we often hoot at each other now...

Packing for 2010

We have started collecting our Olympic gear in preparation for our trip up to Vancouver this weekend! The last Olympics we attended were the Calgary '88 games (Drew even preformed in the opening ceremonies) and we can't wait to be back on Canadian soil celebrating the big event again. Even though Sam is too young to really appreciate the Olympics, we are excited to show him the sights and get lots of pictures so he can look back and hear some good stories. At this point, our gear is ready and the funny thing is Sam has the most Olympic stuff out of any of us! Our family has worked hard to make sure that Sam gets a little piece of Canada even though he is not living there. We know that if Sam grows up in the USA, no one will need to teach him to enjoy his country, but since Canada is so much a part of us, we want to make sure he learns about that bit of him too! So in a few days we will head North and cheer for the home team. However, maybe we do need to get a little piec...
